Four-year Program for Education and Employment

Our Department of Education offers three career paths to the public, private, and charter school systems. We aim to train mentors, inspire and nurture the next generation, and build good character and ethics to help them navigate the changing world. 

Teacher's license in the United States is seen as "a certificate in hand, a job in hand." American law requires teachers in all public schools to obtain a teaching license issued from the state. The qualification license in the United States is not only an examination but a process that includes curricula, professional examinations, ethics, and moral training, American public-school internship, teaching method examinations, etc. And students will obtain the license after passing numerous examinations. It can be said that the qualification of teachers in the United States can guarantee that the quality of the instructor reaches the standards in all aspects. Therefore, although the law does not require private schools to hire licensed teachers, 80 percent of private schools still follow it. As a result, no matter whether one has a Master's degree or a Ph.D. degree, he/she cannot become a qualified teacher in the United States without a license to teach. 

 It usually takes six years to become a licensed "qualified" teacher in the United States. First they are supposed to complete a four-year undergraduate degree, then continue for up to another two years to complete a certificate program, pass an accredited internship, and finally obtain a practicing certificate from the State of California. 

William Jessup University (WJU) has been chartered with a permit from the state government of California to run the Four-year program for Education and Employment. Within just four years, international students can obtain both a Bachelor of Arts Liberal Studies and an Education Credential. In addition to saving up to two years of study expenses, students are eligible for the state-government-chartered "guaranteed internship" while they are at the university. Through this arrangement, we can provide qualified students with employment opportunities immediately after graduation. The immediate employment rate of students from our Education Department after graduation has been 100% the previous years.  

Graduates may be employed in US state schools and are entitled to the approved salary and the California State retirement pension benefits. It is indeed rewarding, as it were, "a license in hand is just like an iron rice bowl in life"!
